NY City Democrat’s Vile, Racist E-Mail to Opponent’s Supporter

Good to see civility ruling the day in New York City politics.

Democrat Thomas Lopez-Pierre, a candidate for the 7th City Council district in uptown New York, has taken exception to his rival garnering support from a local real estate developer.

Recently, real estate developer Brian Benjamin, an African-American, placed his support behind one of Lopez-Pierre’s opponents, Mark Levine.

So Lopez-Pierre did what any serious candidate for public office would do – he sent a public e-mail which referred to Benjamin as “an Uncle Tom n***** b****”, threatened to “b**** slap” him, and proceeded to charge Benjamin with providing sexual favors to “white/Jewish” men.

Politicker provides the e-mail (warning, letter is posted after the jump due to graphic content and language):

“January 3, 2013
Brain [sic] Benjamin:
First I would like to say Happy New Year!
Now that bullshit is out of the way, I wanted to say this to your face but I did not want my words to be misunderstood.
So I am sending it to you in writing and sharing it with others.
I see that you are on the host committee for Mark Levine for City Council.
I would hope that one day you would give me the legal grounds to bitch slap you.
You are an uncle Tom Nigger bitch.
Its Nigger bitches like you that have sold out the Black people of Harlem.
To think there are about eight other candidates in this race that are Black and Hispanic and you decided to pick Mark Levine the only White/Jewish guy in the race to raise money for.
What good does it do our community (by this I mean Black and Hispanic people) to have uncle Tom Nigger bitches like you graduate from Ivy League schools if all you do is suck the cock of guys like Mark Levine.
All the best,
Thomas Lopez-Pierre
PS, The reason why you got your Nigger ass kicked (politically) by Jamaal Nelson when you ran for district leader is because Black people in Harlem can smell the Bitch in you.
They know that you are a weak, little short man who sucks White/Jewish cock.”

Lopez-Pierre must have missed the memo in which the City Council in which he is seeking a seat, has already symbolically banned use of the n-word.

Lopez-Pierre has been repeatedly launching a series of anti-Semitic rants against his opponent, citing Levine as presumably unable to relate to the African-American community in Harlem because he is in fact white, and he is in fact Jewish.  Ironically, his campaign website mentions Lopez-Pierre’s “continuing effort to outreach to the Jewish community”, complete with a picture of the candidate wearing a Yarmulke.

Controversy has been a staple of the Democrat, having run a racy singles club that critics called a “glorified brothel”, and that even he admits was sexist.  Here is an excerpt from a New York Times article profiling Lopez-Pierre and his club:

Thomas Lopez-Pierre was looking for just the right men for the Harlem Club, a private social club for African-Americans and Latinos that he was forming in Manhattan.

For $5,000, mid-career professional men could become charter members; $2,500 would make them general members. But this club did not want just any moneyed men. Rap stars, Hollywood glitterati and professional athletes — what Mr. Lopez-Pierre labels the ”ghetto-fabulous crowd” — would not be welcome.

Women could join the Harlem Club, too. But only as associate members. And they had to be 35 or younger, unmarried, childless, college educated and willing to submit a head-to-toe photograph, to prevent unattractive women from making the cut …

… So far 200 young women, among them doctors, lawyers, accountants, investment bankers and models, have applied for associate membership, Mr. Lopez-Pierre said. He has deleted the e-mail applications of overweight women.

… His comments about the club have been fodder for talk radio, newspapers and BET Nightly News. His views on women who oppose the club’s age restrictions, for example: ”A lot of these women are in their early 40′s, and their good-looking days are over,” he said. ”They’re career women.”…

”I didn’t marry my wife because she was a kind, sensitive woman,” he said. ”I married her because she is a complete package. I married her because she takes her butt to the gym, and she keeps it tight for me. I want it all, and I got it all. There are men who want the same.”

Racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic … Just another day in New York politics.

Matt Damon’s Promised Land Delivers … Hypocrisy and Junk Science

Hollywood’s mega-liberal darling, Matt Damon, is back at it again in his latest film Promised Land, delivering a theatrical effort that is so far-left, providing little more than junk science platitudes and a radical environmental agenda, that even his anti-fracking cohorts are having trouble getting behind it.

In other words, Promised Land delivers about what one could expect from today’s Hollywood elite.

Damon isn’t one to let reality stand in the way of an agenda, vociferously claiming his new movie is an even-handed portrayal of the energy-extracting process of fracking, and a fair assessment of the natural gas industry in general.

In an interview with Big Hollywood, filmmaker Phelim McAleer, co-director of the documentary film FrackNation, points out Damon’s agenda is rather transparent.

“Everyone knows he’s anti-fracking,” McAleer said.  “If he said, ‘this is my passion project,’ he’d get a much better response.  He’s killing his own film by being dishonest.”

And indeed, weekend results show that there are flops, and then there’s Promised Land, pulling in a mere $4.3 million despite Damon’s star power, in what the Los Angeles Times refers to as “lackluster” and a “bad start”.

So what is it about the film that makes it so widely disliked?

First, the junk science involved in getting Damon’s anti-fracking message out is so shady, that even mainstream liberals are having a hard time getting behind it. Second, typical Hollywood hypocrisy immediately puts the film behind the eight ball - Promised Land was financed by a charter members of the OPEC cartel.

The result?  Typically environmentally-friendly outposts in the media have even resorted to hanging Damon out to dry in this latest effort.  The Huffington Post for example, ran an article in which the economic benefits of fracking are pointed out as “remarkably apparent”.

Raymond Learsy writes:

“What has also become remarkably apparent is that we are dealing with an American resource that is in such abundant supply that it portends to become a major game changer for our economy, bringing thousands upon thousands of jobs into the field and to ancillary industries that are supplying the infrastructure hardware.”

The benefits of fracking are not solely financial in nature either.  Learsy goes on to explain that despite the vocal complaints of environmental activists, fracking would reduce emissions by higher levels than other energy sources, and would reduce “in significant measure our need to import fossil fuels.”

Even the New York Times had to admit the film’s bias, claiming “it admirably tries to represent both sides of the fracking debate, even though its allegiance is clearly to the antifracking position.”

Perhaps worse than the false front in terms of science that Promised Land pushes however, is the overall hypocrisy that the project is wrapped in. Damon’s studio is bankrolled by a company called Image Media Abu Dhabi.  Abu Dhabi of course, is a charter member of the OPEC cartel.

Learsy explains that the film is essentially a propaganda tool of the OPEC-friendly company to keep their monopoly of oil and gas prices in check.

“Promised Land is meant to frighten Americans, and whomever, to resist the development of shale gas in their communities. No mention here of the long suffering communities of Pennsylvania who have celebrated an economic renaissance through the development and extraction of natural gas from the vast Marcellus Gas Formation.”

Lachlan Markay of the Heritage Foundation adds:

“The company is wholly owned by the government of the UAE.  The UAE, a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), has a stake in the future of the American fossil fuel industry.”

All of this has resulted in a movie which simply does not make the cut scientifically, or entertainment-wise, is immediately bombing at the box office, and is being mocked in the media with the title, “Good Will Fracking”.

John Hanger, a democrat and former Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, calls Promised Land “pretty silly entertainment” that “doesn’t pretend to deal with the real issues.”

Hanger adds, “the movie sticks to caricatures, with the gas company supporters cast as dishonest, landowners as greedy, and drilling opponents as ‘selfless saints.’”

A dishonest movie pushing a specific agenda out of Hollywood?  Say it ain’t so.

Perhaps the town in which Matt Damon and his anti-fracking crew filmed the movie explains the hypocrisy in the most effective and basic terms.  Promised a ‘Promised Land’ that was actually fair, they’ve taken to social media to express their frustration.  The ‘About’ page on the “Armstrong County Promised Land Pride” Facebook site reads:

“They filmed this movie in our backyard. They said it would be fair to drilling. It’s not. We’re pissed.”

And so are we.

Bank of America Freezes Gun Manufacturer’s Deposits, ‘We Believe You Should Not Be Selling Guns on the Internet’

This is a little bit surreal, in that a bank which actually has the word ‘America’ in it’s title, would try to serve as judge, jury, and executioner of a small business by squashing their ability to conduct business in a free market society.

And yet…

Via Ironic Surrealism (h/t Gateway Pundit):

On December 29, 2011, Joseph P Sirochman, the owner of American Spirit Arms posted this on Facebook:
All,
My name is Joe Sirochman owner of American Spirit Arms and I wanted to share my recent experience with Bank of America .(which we have been doing business with for over 10 years)…. Everyone is familiar with the latest increase in guns sales , dealers selling out of inventory , Manufacturers back logged for months , large revenue all generated in the last two weeks …. American Spirit Arms is no exception to the overwhelming demand . What we have experienced is that our web site orders have jumped 500 % causing our web site E commerce processing larger Deposits to BANK OF AMERICA ..Well, this through up a huge RED Flag with Bank of America . So they decided to hold the deposits for further review , meaning that the orders/payments that were coming in through the web ,( being paid by the customer and that were shipped out by American Spirit Arms ),the BANK was keeping (UNDER REVIEW )..as you could imagine this made me furious…After countless hours on the phone with BANK OF AMERICA I finally got a Manager in the right department that told me the reason that the deposits were on hold for FURTHER REVIEW …HER EXACT WORDS WERE …
..” WE BELIEVE YOU SHOULD NOT BE SELLING GUNS and PARTS ON THE INTERNET “
…I flipped the F**k Out and told them that they have no right to make up their own new rules and regs..that we are a firearms Manufacturer with all the proper licensing FFL (Federal Firearm license ), SOT and that we follow all Federal and All States’ rules and regulations on shipping Firearms and parts ..and that we are also Audited by ATF and Homeland
Security on a regular basis … She said that she understands that but that the deposits will be released After they have a chance to review and clear them …I told her that This was unacceptable and the those deposits (that were a week old by now ) needed to be released ASAP, that we are a small business and rely on the revenue to run and stay operational.
After that being said another Manager got involved and released one of the deposits (to help out )… So far to date after
Two weeks of sales only 1/3 of collected internet sales have been released ..I am still pissed and looking for another
Bank and options …
I just thought the public should know ..
I will keep everyone posted on new developments ..
Sincerely

What bank decides to freeze the assets of a company that they may not see eye to eye with on product?  Especially when the company is operating a legal business in the United States of America?

Investigation Reveals Welfare Recipients Taking Cash Out at Strip Clubs, Porn Shops

In 2011, White House officials made a series of bizarre statements that food stamps and unemployment benefits are job creators.  Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed unemployment checks create jobs.  Then, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack made the claim that food stamps are also job creators.

A more recent example of this can be seen with Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, who made the equally absurd claim that paying people not to work saves jobs.

I’m not sure when Democrats claim welfare benefits create jobs, that this is what they had in mind…

Via the New York Post (h/t Weasel Zippers):

They’re on the dole — and watching the pole.

Welfare recipients took out cash at bars, liquor stores, X-rated video shops, hookah parlors and even strip clubs — where they presumably spent their taxpayer money on lap dances rather than diapers, a Post investigation found.

A database of 200 million Electronic Benefit Transfer records from January 2011 to July 2012, obtained by The Post through a Freedom of Information request, showed welfare recipients using their EBT cards to make dozens of cash withdrawals at ATMs inside Hank’s Saloon in Brooklyn; the Blue Door Video porn shop in the East Village; The Anchor, a sleek SoHo lounge; the Patriot Saloon in TriBeCa; and Drinks Galore, a liquor distributor in The Bronx.

The state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), which oversees the “cash assistance program,” even lists some of these welfare-ready ATMs on its Web site.

One EBT machine is stationed inside Club Eleven, an infamous Hunts Point jiggle joint known as much for its violent history as its girls in pink thongs.

Cops have been cracking down on the Bronx club since 2009 and shut it down temporarily in 2010. In July, five men were stabbed and two others shot outside after bouncers broke up a 4 a.m. brawl with pepper spray. The club appeared to be shuttered when The Post visited Thursday.

Club Heat, another Bronx strip club that dispenses EBT cash, is also no stranger to violence. A 33-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head outside the club in December 2011.

Critics blasted the government for turning a blind eye to welfare’s sleazy money.

“This is morally scandalous,” said Michael Tanner, a senior fellow at the Cato Institute. “I have nothing against strip clubs, but that’s not what benefits are for. I don’t blame [recipients]. If you are poor, it’s a crummy life and you want to have a drink or see a naked woman. I blame the people who are in charge of this.”

Read the rest of the report here…

This past summer, legislation passed in the New York senate looked to curb such spending by welfare recipients, on such frivolous items as casino gambling, strip clubs, and lottery tickets, as well as limiting the money’s use for cigarettes and alcohol.

Via the Associated Press:

New York would prohibit welfare recipients from spending their tax-funded benefits on cigarettes, alcohol, gambling, and strip clubs under a bill passed overwhelmingly by the state Senate on Tuesday.

Ten other states have already ruled social services can’t be spent on items from beer to guns.

“I understand that people need food stamps,” said Republican Sen. Thomas Libous, a Broome County Republican. “What I don’t understand is why they need to go to strip clubs, buy lottery tickets, go to a ‘racino’ or buy alcohol.”

Sadly, that bill, which Libous claims would stop over $2 billion in welfare abuse in New York state, is doing nothing more than collecting dust in the Democrat controlled Assembly.

The “Public Assistance Integrity Act” would not allow the purchase of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery tickets with welfare payments, and would prohibit ATM withdrawals using the Electronic Benefits Transfer card at certain establishments such as liquor stores and strip clubs.

Sen. Bill Perkins (D-Harlem) voted against the measure saying, “It’s a prejudice, I think, about poor people that we are seeing represented more than any statistical or study of behavior”.

Perhaps it would aid the poor in limiting their use of public assistance on things such as lottery tickets and strip clubs that will only serve to continue their financial distress?

Perkins added, “the bill would penalize a poor mother who simply withdrew money to buy milk if she used an ATM in a banned establishment to do so.”

If you can’t find an ATM other than the one at a place called Shenanigan’s to get your milk, then you’re not really fit to receive monetary benefits of any kind.

They Actually Said It, Labor Secretary Edition: Extending Unemployment Checks "Saved Millions and Millions of Jobs"

It takes a rare type of individual to go on a national news program and spout off something as incredibly moronic as ‘paying people not to work, saves jobs’.

But Hilda Solis is just that individual.

Via Zero Hedge (h/t Gateway Pundit):

Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis made her ubiquitous post-NFP appearance on CNBC this morning and spouted the usual propaganda. However, while discussing how wonderful the ATRA was, the seemingly slap-happy Solis noted how great the fact that emergency unemployment benefits were extended for millions of people was – and that thanks to that (and the magic of the Keynesian multiplier), millions of jobs were saved. So, to sum up, paying people not to work, saved millions and millions of jobs? Indeed America, indeed.

Must Watch from 3:00 onwards, she stumbles and shakes her head when pushed on the question of how many jobs we lost due to fiscal cliff uncertainty (no idea – none she believes) and then the money-shot on the unemployed and saving millions of small business jobs…

Here is a partial transcript (video below):

Solis:  ”All I can tell you is that we helped to provide, I think, some stop gaps.  And what I think about is those two million people that would have lost their unemployment insurance because think about it, all that money that goes out in terms of what’s being spent by that unemployment check helps to generate two additional dollars back in the community, so small businesses, everyone continues to keep their jobs.  So, I can’t give you an exact figure.  But I’ll tell you that, just by the movement that the President made, we saved millions and millions of jobs.

Soldiers Decide to Get Married at Airport, Immediately Fly Off to Separate Military Assignments

Feel good story for the day…
Two soldiers, Caitlin Murray and Sean Whitney, were waiting at Albany International Airport to board separate flights heading off to their respective military assignments.
Whitney will be deployed in Afghanistan until September of 2015.  Murray was heading to South Carolina for basic training.
The couple decided that before their flights departed, that they would get married right then and there, military fatigues and all.
Via the Times Union:

The bride wore camouflage military fatigues, with tan soldier’s boots.

          The groom was similarly dressed.

Caitlin Murray, 20, and Sean Whitney, 26, are privates first class in the Army, headed separate ways on respective military assignments.

They decided spur of the moment to get married Thursday at the Albany International Airport after scrambling to secure a marriage license a day after purchasing matching Irish Claddaugh rings.

They faced a tight deadline for their nuptials. Missing their flights was not an option.

Murray had a 2:35 p.m. US Airways flight to catch to Charlotte before completing basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Whitney was booked on a 5 p.m. Southwest flight to St. Louis to finish training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan.

When a hastily summoned town marriage officer said. “I now pronounce you man and wife” and the couple kissed, there was warm applause from two dozen strangers and a few airport workers on the observation deck.

It was the first wedding held at Albany International in over 20 years, and likely the first one in which the bride and groom then embarked on separate ‘honeymoon’ destinations.
We look forward to hearing more about the couple when they are finally reunited.

Old Story: Senate Voted on Fiscal Cliff Bill 3 Minutes After Receiving It; New Story: ‘Not Sure There Was Ever a Bill’

This is your modern day government at work under Democrat rule.

On Wednesday we reported that the fiscal cliff legislation that was passed in the U.S. Senate was voted on a mere three minutes after it was introduced.  Clearly, that was nonsense.  But now Senator Rand Paul has made a shocking admission.  Last night on Sean Hannity’s show, Paul stated that he wasn’t “sure there was ever a bill printed”.

Via Gateway Pundit:

SHOCK ADMISSION–
It’s worse than we thought…
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) told Sean Hannity tonight,
“You know we have ten years notice on this fiscal deadline. And you know when they decided to address it? Ten years, one hour, and thirty-six minutes is when they finally decided to come up with a bill. They bring the bill to the floor. Which, I never saw the bill. I’m not sure there was ever a bill printed. But, I was told it was somewhere online at 1:36 AM and we voted at 1:39 AM. This is no way to run a government.

Here’s the video…

But this is exactly how we are running government Senator Paul.  Democrats and Republicans alike voted on a bill that they never even looked at.  Another ‘let’s pass it first and find out what’s in it later’ moment.

New York City Democrat – Gun Owners, Child Molesters … ‘Same Thing’

A former mayoral candidate for New York City went on Chris Matthews’ show Hardball, and proceeded to categorically equate law-abiding gun owners to the most heinous of criminals – child molesters.

Via Mediaite:

Former Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Mark Green appeared on MSNBC’s Hardball on Thursday where he advocated for the strictest of gun ownership laws. He said that there should be a registry where people can go to see if their neighbor is a gun owner, just as “Megan’s Law” allows for individuals to see if there is a convicted sex offender living in their neighborhood.

“If we have a Megan’s Law – because I think almost everyone might agree – that if you’re a convicted child molester, a neighbor might want to know that because they’re in your home, safe, but maybe they could hurt someone else,” Green said. “Same thing with guns.

Here’s the video…

Green is a liberal amongst liberals, serving as the former President of the defunct broadcasting corporation, Air America.  He is currently a radio host for a nationally syndicated broadcast, appears frequently on Hardball and formerly co-hosted a show with Arianna Huffington.

But he also is a public figure in the Democrat mainstream, having represented the party in elections for the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate, and Mayor of New York City.

Hammer Time: FBI Statistics Indicate More People Killed With Hammers and Clubs Than Rifles

Would a claw hammer be considered a high-capacity assault hammer?  Whatever, the need for more stringent hammer-control is glaringly apparent.  Based on this report…

According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle.

This is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats’ feverish push to ban many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course.

However, it appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle.

I shudder to think what liberals would want to do in regards to nail gun legislation.  Incidentally, would a nail gun be considered a semi-automatic hammer?

Murders aren’t simply being carried out with these tools however…

Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.

Should we not then have more stringent background checks on one’s own hands?
When will the madness end?

Congressman Chris Gibson Offers a Half-Truth Explanation for a Half-Wit Decision

In the wake of the recent fiscal cliff deal, a jubilant White House bragged about breaking the Republican’s no-tax pledge, referring to their victory as “one of the most consequential policy achievements of the last couple decades”.
But New York Congressman Chris Gibson, who had already hinted that he would not be beholden to the Grover Norquist no-tax pledge that he signed a mere two years earlier, doesn’t quite see it that way.
In a statement released shortly after the Senate passed legislation that would avert the fiscal cliff, Gibson said “I support this bill and voted ‘yes’ as it provides much needed tax relief for over 99% of my constituents.”
That statement places Gibson – a Republican – squarely on the side of his Democrat colleagues in the Empire State, in claiming that the legislation would only raise taxes on the wealthiest 1% of Americans.
But is this really the case, or is it another example of Gibson only working with ‘half’ of the facts?
First, in November, Gibson provided an embarrassing half-wit cop out for how he could go back on his no-tax pledge in the first place.

Representative Gibson now says he signed his pledge in 2010 when he was a candidate for Congress. But the pledge was made to the people of New York’s 20th congressional district.  Since then, the new Census mandated a redrawing of the district lines which included changing the number of the district Gibson was in.  So his office now claims: “Congressman Gibson doesn’t plan to re-sign it for the 19th Congressional District, which he now represents (the pledge is to your constituents of a numbered district).”

The absurdity of that statement was so egregious that Mr. Gibson should have issued an apology to the roughly 50% of District 20′s constituents that still fall under his representation for not keeping his pledge, and a separate apology to his new constituents in District 19 for insulting their intelligence.

Second, Gibson followed through on his no-no-tax pledge by casting a half-wit vote for a fiscal cliff bill that FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe referred to as “an epic fail”. Gibson’s vote supported an ill-conceived bill that Kibbe explains will “raise income tax rates for individuals earning more than $400,000 a year”, and it was a vote cast in haste – only three minutes after being introduced to the Senate.

Finally, Gibson has resorted to justifying such a poor decision by spouting off half-truths in defense of his legislative vote.  While income tax rates will indeed only rise for the top 1% of earners as he claims, the bill’s unwillingness to address an extension of a two-year-old payroll tax break means a significant majority of all Americans will be paying a good deal more in taxes to the federal government this year.

The New York Times reports:
“… lawmakers’ decision not to reverse a scheduled increase in the payroll tax that finances Social Security, while widely expected, still means that about 77 percent of households will pay a larger share of income.”

This was according to an analysis performed by the Tax Policy Center, a nonpartisan research group.

KRMG News spells it out in simpler terms:
The average family making $50,000 per year will see their paychecks drop by $83.33 per month ($1,000/year).
The average family making $75,000 per year will see their paychecks drop by $125.00 per month ($1,500/year).
The average family making $100,000 per year will see their paychecks drop by $166.67 per month ($2,000/year).
That is a significant chunk of change on people who cannot exactly be classified as affluent, and are people that likely fall inside that ’99% of constituents’ that Gibson claims to have protected with his vote.
By focusing on the income tax aspect of the legislation while ignoring the payroll tax angle, Gibson has joined the ranks of his Democrat colleagues in perpetuating a ‘smoke and mirrors’ myth about the benefits of the fiscal cliff bill for their constituents.

It is a half-truth to say that taxes will only go up on the rich.  Insert the other half of the facts, and the reality becomes much clearer – taxes will be going up for a clear plurality of Americans.

While Congressman Gibson and other Republicans squirm in their attempts to justify a vote for capitulation to the President’s desire to raise taxes, perhaps Politico says it best:
“Read their lips: Republicans just voted for higher taxes.”
Sad to say, that is the whole truth.
